Easy early Prophecies Ele build for my kid?
My 7 year old wants to play GW with me (2nd account) and wants to play Ele (who doesn't want to shoot fire out of their hands?)
while I intend to slowly get him up to speed with the intricacies of the game, I'd like to make his first experience pleasant by suggesting an easy to use and relatively effective build to get through the first 15 or so levels.
His account only has Proph+EoTN and we won;t be getting to EoTN very early, so really I'm looking at a Proph only build to start with.
An easy to play build probably means something easy to spam (not too hard on energy) and doesn't require timing/combos like interrupts or chaining powers based on their condition generating effect. It's bad enough he will haev to remember to maintain enchantments (I can't figure out how to make a decent Ele without them).
I'd avoid exhaustion causing powers at first (like Meteor shower)
also, each power should have immediate reward, so I wouldn't do /Monk with the Protection line because it's less obvious than healing.
Edit: Bleh, can't find instructions on how to post a build
this was my original thought mostly because he loves the idea of a pet (ignore attributes, I didn't tune them)
[pre][build=Easy Ele?;OgJDo8SsG4iW6KYFz30WAA][/pre]
I'm thinking he's like the security blanket of a /Monk secondary, I'm just not very familiar with what's good at low level for Proph.
[pre][build=Easy Ele?;OgNDo8SsG4iW6KYFDAZMmA][/pre]
(again ignore attributes)
I'll be playing a warrior.

For early proph I used a Glyph of Elemental Power, Fire Attunement, and Aura of Restoration then just spammed Flare until enemies died. On large groups I used Fire Storm.
It won't work once you get out of the Ascalon region, but for early missions its almost too easy. If you spend some time in pre to level up first (leave around 6 or 7) you can be dealing around 70 or 80 damage with flare alone.

Yeah, the lack of a really spammable skill on those bars might make your kid a little itchy. I mean, I'm not 7, yet when I'm playing elementalist, if I can't be shooting fire out every couple of seconds, I get itchy.
Flare would be a good choice, though you'll probably also want to have a non-projectile, so he can learn how line of sight works. My instinct would be to go E/Mo, maybe pick up some smite skills (Smite, maybe?) so he can get the rush from incinerating undead.
Although the pet build is tempting (meat shields are a newbie's best friend), I fear your son could get really frustrated by A) the time it takes to get Troll Unguent off (he could be dead by then), and B) his skills blacking out every time the pet dies.
My only other suggestion might be picking up an armor boosting skill -- Armor of Earth (if you don't think the speed reduction would be a problem) or Armor of Mist -- just so he can withstand a little beating until he learns how to avoid/lose aggro.
Naturally, all of these suggestions likely won't fit on one bar, just some things to consider as he progresses through the campaign. Hope you two have fun together!

My sister is 8, and she plays my Elementalist - E/N, because she likes to spam Flare and raise minions. Maybe your son would like that?
(no, I don't play my Ele like that, but I keep that available for when she just wants to blow things up)

Make him an E/W Hamstorm build. I'm pretty sure anybody, including your son, would enjoy crippling an enemy and watching them burn to death right in front of your eyes. Btw. Watchout for your son trying to flare in real life and burning down your house.

Fire Attunement and Aura of Restoration will make things easier for him, since they will provide both health and energy replacement as he spams his skills.
If he starts in pre-searing, his access to skills will be very limited.
I think you should give him more credit though. 7-yr-olds can figure things out in pretty creative ways. It won't be long before he's teaching dad something he hasn't seen before in guild wars.

Read section 9 http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/b...t10314574.html
It has a non-elite build for Tyria only skills.
